There was a time when unlimited calls and messages were a rarity in phone plans. A big part of finding great value was in figuring out how many calls and messages you made each month.
Nowadays, it is much simpler and 'unlimited plans' are very much the norm. With this in mind, we tend to compare plans by looking for plans with the best value data component.
Just in case there is any confusion, these plans don't include unlimited data. In fact, no mobile phone plan in Australia does. Data inclusions are on the rise though, with plans including 5GB or more becoming more common and more affordable.
Top 10 cheapest plans with Unlimited Calls and SMS
It might be hard to believe, but the starting cost for plans with unlimited calls and SMS is now well below $20 per month, and with competition as it is, this price is getting lower all the time.
This top 10 list contains both postpaid and prepaid plan options. This isn't surprising when you consider how similar many of these plans are. All are no contract; all include calls, messages and data; and all credit last for at least 28 days.
Top 10 big data plans
Netflix, Stan, Foxtel Play, YouTube: if there's one thing that can blow your data budget each month, it's video streaming. Not that you need to avoid videos on your phone, you just need to plan ahead and choose a plan with enough data to handle all the bits and bytes you plan to stream.
These plans are the top 10 big data plans for under $60 per month. There are a few more expensive options available, but you shouldn't need to pay more than $60 per month for a BYO phone plan with a whole lot of data included.
It's worth noting that some of the plans in the table below are 3G only, which means your data speeds will be slower than on a 4G network. That said, 3G is still fast enough to stream high definition video through Netflix though.
