If you're thinking of switching it up with a prepaid plan, Optus is cutting prices on its $40 SIM Starter Kit by a whopping 50%.
From now through to July 7, you can pick up the 3-in-1 SIM pack for just $20 when you buy online. Activate your SIM on Optus' Prepaid Ultimate Plus plan, and you'll get unlimited talk and text, unlimited standard calls to 15 countries, plus data-free music streaming from selected services and $10 of extras credit each month.
Data-wise, Ultimate Prepaid Plus' $40 plan also gives you 7GB of monthly gigabytes - but recharge before September 4, and you'll receive a bonus 7GB for the following prepaid cycle. So that's 14GB for the next 28 days, plus the option of Data Rollover of up to 10GB when you recharge before your plan's expiry date.
Optus' half-price SIM Starter offer also applies to customers activating on its Daily Maximiser and Long Expiry prepaid options. Daily Maximiser is priced at $2 per day and includes unlimited talk and text, 1GB of daily data, and data-free music streaming, while Long Expiry is charged on a pay-per-use basis (20c per minute for standard calls, 20c per standard text, and 5c per megabyte of data).
More prepaid price cuts
More good news: Optus isn't the only telco slashing prices on online prepaid starter packs. Vodafone is offering half-off its $50 Talk Combo and Data Combo starter kits: for $25 you'll get unlimited voice and text with each option - plus 12GB per recharge on the Data Combo and 9GB with the Talk Combo - when you buy by July 4.
TPG Mobile is also offering six-month discounts on its T4G prepaid plans. Right now, new customers can sign up for the $19.99 Small plan for $10 per month, the $29.99 Medium plan for $15 per month, the $34.99 Large Plan for $19.99 per month, and the $39.99 Extra Large plan for $24.99 monthly, for the first six months of service.
