As telcos increasingly pile on data inclusions at the high end, Amaysim's turned its focus to cheap as chips plans, with two new entry level-offerings. These include a $10 28-day recharge with unlimited talk and text and 1GB of data, and a $20 28-day recharge with unlimited talk and text and 2.5GB of data.
The new $20 recharge replaces Amaysim's $25, 2GB recharge. While the option might offer better data-for-dollar, it no longer features any international calling inclusions. These are now available on recharges starting at $30 and up (currently discounted to $25 for your first six recharges).
Amaysim's new range of 28-day recharges is as follows:
Amaysim's new $10 recharge is currently one of the cheapest 1GB plans around, but it isn't necessarily a clear winner. Jeenee Mobile does a 1GB plan with unlimited talk and text for $9.90 per month, but you do need to sign a 12-month contract and pay a $10 setup fee. Spintel will do 1.5GB for $9.95, but you only get 200 minutes of talk. You'll also pay a $10 upfront setup fee, but you don't have to sign a contract.
The new $20 recharge is however one the best options around if you're after 2.5GB. Jeenee has an almost identical plan but it's on a 12-month contract and you're still looking at a $10 setup fee. It is however worth noting that since Amaysim's plan roll over on a 28-day basis, so you'll end up recharging roughly 13 times per year. This means you'd actually save money on Jeenee, if you are happy locking yourself to a provider for a year.
