Apple to unveil new iPhone operating system on June 5

Apple is set to unveil the next version of iOS - the operating system found on your iPhone and iPad - on June 5 as part of its Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose. Run annually, WWDC is a developer-focused event that Apple has traditionally used to announce the next round of updates to its core software. As such, we're also expecting news on macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.

While Apple hasn't provided any hints about what it might announce, it has published this lofty statement:

"Technology alone is not enough. Technology must intersect with the liberal arts and the humanities, to create new ideas and experiences that push society forward. This summer we bring together thousands of brilliant minds representing many diverse perspectives, passions, and talents to help us change the world."

Since WWDC is a developer-focused event, Apple is unlikely to introduce any new hardware. Developers can get into WWDC for USD$1,599 a ticket, but everyone else will be able to watch Tim Cook and co lay out the future of Apple software through a livestream.
