OVO is teaming up with 7-Eleven to sell its SIM cards in brick-and-mortar stores around Australia from November 15. The tiny telco started as a digital only business in 2016 and its new distribution deal marks the first time OVO products will be available in brick-and-mortar stores. To date, customers have had to order an OVO SIM online to get connected.
"It's pretty exciting to now be able to offer these plans over the counter to people who can be up-and-running within hours of picking up one of our SIM cards at their nearest 7-Eleven store," said OVO CEO Matt Jones.
"For our business, teaming up with 7-Eleven is a momentous step, giving us an Australia-wide footprint to build upon what we've achieved to-date as a pure e-commerce brand. It's an exciting moment in OVO's evolution."
You'll find OVO SIMs in 7-Eleven stores Australia-wide from November 15. OVO says its SIMs will be available in 617 of Australia's 7-Elevens, which is roughly 92%.
Rather than selling a $2 SIM like most local providers, you'll simply pay for first recharge when you check out at 7-Eleven. These start at $9.95 for 1GB over a 30-day period, and top out with a massive $69.95 per month 100GB data-only plan. The instore OVO SIM can be loaded with any plan from OVO's entire range.
