Called the My Pocket Wifi Ultimate, the mobile broadband device supports up to ten Wifi-enabled devices at one time, including smartphones, tablets, laptops and gaming consoles.
The gadget features a 1.77-inch colour LCD screen, which allows users to monitor the connection status of their devices, as well as gauge their data usage via an in-built meter integrated with Telstra’s billing system. The My Pocket Wifi Ultimate is the first prepaid device to include a usage meter, making it easy for customers to keep track of their data use and avoid unexpected cut-offs.
Customers will be able to access their device’s settings and update their personal info through a Telstra web portal, which also guides users through the My Pocket Wifi Ultimate’s setup and activation process.
Excitingly for anyone purchasing the device, the My Pocket is the first prepaid mobile device that’s compatible with Telstra’s new APT700MHz spectrum.
The upcoming spectrum will roll out nationally from January 2015 and offers Telstra customers faster data speeds, improves network capacity and will reach more Australians through wider regional coverage and better indoor 4G reception.
Customers using the My Pocket Wifi Ultimate will be the first in the country to access the APT700MHz spectrum early next year.
The My Pocket Wifi Ultimate is available from Telstra retail stores and online for $149. Included with the device is an initial 5GB of pre-paid 4G data, which will expire after 30 days.
